UVMHN Holds Career Fair to Inspire the Next Generation of Health Care Workers
Published Oct. 17, 2024

The UVM Health Network is happy to report the success of its career fair at SUNY Plattsburgh! Over 250 high school students from across northern New York attended the event, which is intended to cultivate the next generation of healthcare workers. As UVMHN’s Talent Acquisition Manager Katrina Stone told NBC5 News reporters at the fair, “Putting some focus on getting students interested in healthcare opportunities is going to help us build our future workforce.”

The high schoolers were able to network with medical professionals and learn about different health care jobs, some of which they may not have known about. Many of those jobs don’t require a college degree, which allows these students to get important hands-on experience. Given current workforce shortages, this sort of outreach is becoming increasingly essential to ensure the healthcare industry can thrive.

Due to the success of this event, UVMHN will be holding another career fair in Vermont this Spring. Be sure to check back with this blog for updates on that!
